About

Kelly Sankowski is a freelance writer and editor based in Toledo, Ohio, where she lives with her husband and two young sons. She holds a B.A. in English and Religious Studies from the University of Virginia and an M.A. in Theology and Ministry from Boston College.

After college, Kelly spent three years as a reporter for the Catholic Standard newspaper of the Archdiocese of Washington, during which time her reporting on the 2019 World Youth Day in Panama earned first place for best coverage of papal trips from the Catholic Press Association. She went on to Boston College, where her Master’s thesis focused on ministering to adolescent women through bodily spirituality. In recent years, her writing has focused on projects that aim to elevate the voices and experiences of women in the Church, including reporting on maternity leave in the Church, pregnant students on Catholic college campuses, and women teaching priests and deacons about preaching. She also served as editorial assistant for the Catholic Women Preach book series.

Kelly also writes regularly for local Toledo publications, and her writing has appeared in Toledo Streets Newspaper, Toledo City Paper, Toledo Parent, and Toledo Free Press. When she is not chasing a toddler or working with words, she enjoys being active (running, yoga, hiking), reading, and eating ice cream.
